Understanding Web Blogging
Services such as online banking, shopping, learning, vide conferencing and telecommuting are now common and popular amongst most business personalities and individuals due to technological enhancement in internet technology. However, for chronic internet users, blogging is the in thing as it provides a medium to express ones idea. In a non professional term, a Blog can be defined as a type of website that is owned and maintained by an individual but allows other people to make commentaries regarding various issues that affect the society. The activity of posting or writing ones idea in relation to a particular topic on this website is thus referred to as blogging. Most if not all Blogs enables guest to not only leave commentaries but also message each other making blogging a more of an interactive activity on the internet unlike any other form of internet service.
The main purpose of blogs is to provide reviews or feedbacks pertaining to products, news, services, and politics amongst other issues that may relate to the society. A standard blog makes use of images, video, text and back links to other blogs or web pages. The capacity of a Blog To allow visitors to leave comments is an integral component of A Blog and it is what makes blogging to be a fun activity. Statics show that, as at the end of the year 2007 there were more than 112,000,000 blogs worldwide. This is an indication that blogging is the number one activity on the internet and is being used as a platform by market leading news networks such as CNN, SKY and Aljazeera news networks to get feedbacks on programs aired.
Climb to fame
Blogging has its origins in the 90′s. However, its use can be traced back to 1997 and begun to gain fame in the year 1999. The first open diary was launched in 1998 as a way of getting reader comments. It is still regarded up to today as the initial blog society that allowed other readers to leave comments that were made by others. Its growth was catapulted in 1999 by Andrew Smales as an easy way to a news page on the internet.
Political Influence
Having realized the influence of blogs to in spreading breaking news, distorting ideas and spinning stories, most politicians have turned to the tool as a way of advancing their agenda. Nevertheless, the first political blog can be traced back to 2002 when most Bloggers left commentaries on a comment that was made by an outstanding US Senator. Since then related blogs has since emerged discussing various issues from scandals to aspirations by different political heavy weights.
Mainstream
Blogs have been used as a mainstream media by news networks, political consultants and party candidates as a way of not only enhancing their ideas but also as a form of consolidating ideas from different quarters.
Categories
Blogs are categorized according to the contents therein and in the way that the contents are written. Examples of blogs are personal and corporate blogs.
